Advanced Video Production
Advanced Video Production Camp offers students entering grades 9 – 12 the unique opportunity to develop multimedia production skills including scripting for video, lighting, directing, shooting, editing and special effects. This advanced camp is perfect for high-schoolers who have already dabbled in digital filmmaking (or even who have attained substantial mastery already) and for those who want to learn something fun, exciting and new and are themselves new to filmmaking. The primary focus of the program is for more advanced students, but if students with only nominal experience attend, they will be put together for their film group, allowing them to progress as their own skills and interests allow, and at whatever pace is comfortable for them.
A comprehensive overview of the basics of story-telling through film and video leads directly into a hands-on workshop where students create a series of short movies or video vignettes. Personal guidance and instruction from expert mentors help students hone their skills as they work to produce their own short film. During the end-of-camp film screening students’ work is critiqued by our lead staff who have historically included professionals in the production industry. We also staff with exceptional teachers from the educational arena who have extensive experience with teaching video production. Students will receive guidance on how to refine their work and enter it into local and national film festivals.
Students of the Advanced Video Production Camp receive advice on how to break into a rewarding career in film, television and multimedia marketing. Students will be exposed by the staff to how to develop a multimedia portfolio for use in admissions to University-level film and television programs and to present their work in the jobs market.
