Wings of Icarus: Exploring Flight
Meet Icarus!
Yes, you guessed it, Icarus is an egg. A very ambitious egg that grew up on an island but has always wanted to explore the world. He decided that the most exciting way to leave his island home would be to fly away. Unfortunately he was born an egg and doesn’t have the wings to fly like a bird. Can you help Icarus?
Our workshop designer, LEO, has invited Icarus to host a special masters’ workshop this summer called The Wings of Icarus. We need smart and excited apprentices to join Icarus in figuring out the best way to fly off his island home. Will it be by blimp? Plane? Rocket? Sling shot?
Join our team as we explore various kinds of flight through daily hands-on experiments and discover the best and safest way for Icarus to fly.
Along the way, we will:
Explore the mechanics and physics of flight
Study the history of flight from medieval times to modern day
Experiment with several forms of flight, with hands-on projects including parachutes, gliders and more
Earn awards for mastery of flight skills and creative problem solving
Learn from each other and from our experienced instructors
Make lots of new friends!
