Masons of Old: Medieval Design
This is an exciting summer for the Tuscan City of Vinci and also for LEO, our workshop designer. LEO was born on a farm only a short distance from the town walls, and he has always loved his country home.
Why is LEO so excited? The King has called for a special festival to celebrate a restoration of the old medieval city, and he has asked LEO to set up a workshop to prepare for the restoration.
The call has gone out for all medieval engineers and designers to join the workshop The Masons of Old. To prepare for the festival, the King has asked the workshop apprentices to create medieval marvels to help renovate the City of Vinci. Join us as we design and build for the celebrated restoration!
We must build grand walls that will be sturdy and beautiful. The town needs a new bridge to span the river and the King wants it to be twice as big as the old stone bridge. Most exciting of all, the King wants to celebrate by hurling fireworks into the sky with medieval catapults and trebuchets that all need to be designed and built.
Join the fun of the Masons of Old as we use teamwork, creativity and problem solving to help LEO build marvelous works of engineering and architecture.
Along the way, we will:
Learn about the history and progress of architecture and building in the Renaissance era
Build working models of bridges, trebuchets, catapults and more
Explore principles of engineering and physics
Earn awards for mason mastery and creative problem solving
Learn from each other and from our experienced instructors
Make lots of new friends!
