Room and Board
At almost all of our overnight programs we are able to provide room and board on campus for our staff members. At some of our overnight programs we are able to accommodate staff members who prefer to commute to and from campus each day. At our day camps we do not provide housing. If you have a strong preference about whether you would like to stay on campus or commute, feel free to include your preference in your cover letter. If you are contacted for an interview, the Camp Director will be able to discuss room/board and evening supervision options with you. These options may vary from camp to camp.
Camp sessions range in length from five days to six weeks. Please note that the dates listed on our dates and prices webpage are for campers and their families. Staff members are generally expected to arrive at least one day before the start of camp for staff prep and training. Directors have additional pre-camp duties. Individual Camp Directors will determine the staff arrival time for their camps. If you are contacted for an interview, the Camp Director will be able to discuss the camp schedule in more detail with you.
"Watching my students present their work on the last day of camp made me well up with sadness and pride- sadness because I was saying goodbye to students I came to genuinely care about and pride because all of my hard work creating a cohesive and meaningful summer program paid off. Directing the Emerging Writers Institute was a true pleasure, and it reminded me that an academic program can indeed change student lives."
— 2007 Emerging Writers Institute Director
"I really appreciated the connection I got to make with the students. It wasn't just teaching --the kids felt just as comfortable asking me for feedback on their essays as with teasing me about how bad I am at volleyball, or telling me about their concerns about college. They seemed sincerely interested in spending time with the staff, so it felt like they were taking something more than just writing skills away with them after camp."
— 2007 A+ Pre-College Instructor
"[The Director] at all times remained calm, positive, caring, energetic and professional. She put every ounce of her energy into making this a wonderful experience for everyone. She is an inspiration!"
