Refund Policy & Tuition Protection Plan

Refunds are provided only with purchase of a Tuition Protection Plan, which must be purchased at the time of registration. Education Unlimited incurs a variety of irrecoverable costs related to contract guarantees to our host campuses and the need to make commitments to our summer staff, and as a result, we are unable to offer refunds unless our Tuition Protection Plan has been purchased. Sometimes families must cancel their registration due to unforeseen circumstances and we are unable to issue refunds in such cases without purchase of the protection plan, and for this reason we do recommend that all families purchase our Tuition Protection Plan. In essence, all cancellations are of course 'unforeseen,' and this is not a reason on its own we can accept for issuing refunds.

Our Tuition Protection Plan provides for a refund (including the normally non-refundable deposit but not the insurance premium itself) if camp enrollment is cancelled by written notification prior to the start of the program as per the schedule below. No refund is provided if the cancellation request is received two days or fewer from the start of camp, or of course after camp has begun, even with our Tuition Protection Plan. The total fee is 10% of the total cost of the program before any discounts. Tuition Protection can only by purchased on initial application, and cannot be added later. Tuition Protection is not offered for any of our College Tour programs (East Coast College Tour, California College Tour and any added optional group flights).

This written cancellation policy is always binding and no verbal communication from EU staff can override the written policy. Only a financial officer of the company can approve a policy waiver. All requests for a waiver must be submitted in writing for the CEO or CFO to review. The amount of a refund with the Tuition Protection Plan is determined by the time of cancellation notification as outlined below:

  • Cancellation 31 or more days before camp: 100% refund
  • Cancellation 15 - 30 days before camp: Choice of 70% refund or 85% camp credit
  • Cancellation 3 - 14 days before camp: Choice of 40% refund or 70% camp credit
  • Cancellation 2 or fewer days before camp: 40% camp credit (no cash refund)

Families are responsible for paying the total price as listed on their finalized application invoice at the time of registration. Any discount must be applied at the time of initial registration and may not be retroactively added. Education Unlimited does not offer any refund in the event that a family neglects to provide any desired discount code at the time of registration. However, as a courtesy, we can extend the amount of the discount, if valid at the time of written request and all terms and conditions are adhered to, as a credit for a future camp, valid for one year from the date of request.

In some very limited circumstances partial credits for a future camp may be possible if a student departs a camp after it has begun based on a number of factors and only at the discretion of, and with the approval of, the Executive Director of Education Unlimited. Factors include severe illness during camp necessitating withdrawl, the degree to which the host campus is willing to provide a pro-rated refund for their services, and early notification of curricular difficulties if problems are perceived to exist relative to what was advertised for the program so that the program site director and staff can have a reasonable chance to rectify any perceived deficits or problems with the curriculum. Based upon student age and ability level our classes are usually able to cover most or all of what is listed as covered in a particular program, but sometimes a group of students with a lower experience level will not be able to cover all material in the time allowed, and that shall not be considered non-delivery of agreed services as long as a good faith effort is being made to cover as much of the listed material as time available and student ability levels allow. When assigning value to such credits the camp 'valuation' is 40% for room, board, classroom fees; 40% for curricular/class time instructions and activities, and 20% for recreational time and activities. Days used are generally prorated, so completion or near completion of the camp schedule before raising any concerns or issues is presumptively a disqualifying factor from receiving a partial credit. All such requests for camp credit for just cause must be made in writing with detailed explanation of the request for camp credit, and are ultimately at the discretion of the Executive Director.
