Summer Focus Enrichment

Summer Focus Enrichment provides a unique opportunity for students to experience a taste of life at UC Berkeley while developing critical academic skills. Students live on campus and split their day between Education Unlimited's proven curriculum and excursions to explore UC Berkeley, the surrounding city, and the greater San Francisco Bay Area. This program is designed for summer-long enrollment, so students can choose between 2-week, 4-week, or 6-week stays, while constantly experiencing new challenges and possibilities. Education Unlimited brings our record of student safety and academic excellence to provide each student with their first taste of college life while ensuring parents' peace of mind.

During each two-week session students will have the opportunity to focus on one area of interest:
  • July 1 - July 14:
    • Robotics: In this course, students will use the VEX robotics platform to explore the emerging science of robot mechanics as they build and program their robot from scratch, remotely control it, experiment with light and pressure sensors, create drive trains for varying terrains, and play robotic sports.
    • Writing: The writing classes at Summer Focus Enrichment guids students through the writing process so that they understand the steps and techniques that go into writing outstanding essays. Our instructors will work with students one-on-one while they write several drafts of an argumentative essay.
  • July 15 - July 28:
    • Public Speaking: Designed to help students build confidence in their public speaking skills, this useful activity teaches students to craft and deliver convincing speeches. The focus is on speaking in a natural voice, with few or no notes, rather than writing an essay and merely reading it out loud, the form of "public speaking" taught by most teachers and used in the classroom and boardroom.
    • Leadership: We developed our summer leadership training programs around the premise that students should strive to be effective leaders who demonstrate excellence by their approach and their accomplishment. Weekly projects will simulate the kind of routine leadership projects that successful high school leadership classes would be responsible to accomplish. Each project includes budget and time management, delegation of responsibilities and effective teamwork.
  • July 29 - August 10:
    • College Admissions Prep: College admission is one of the most significant milestones in a student’s life. Excellent preparation and informed support can make the greatest difference in realizing a student’s future aspirations. Each student will choose two of the following courses to take during their week-long session:
      • SAT Math
      • SAT Reading and Writing
      • College counseling & Common Application
      • Personal Statement Writing
    • Video Production: In this course, campers produce, direct, light, shoot and edit like the experts as they complete exercises and projects culminating in making their own short movie. Students will learn to utilize titles, graphics, music, voice-over and live-action video while developing leadership, communication, project management, creative design and technical skills.

Students time spent on their focus program is balanced with fun and exciting excursions, examples of possible outings are:
  • Sightseeing at Fisherman's Wharf

  • Games and museums in Golden Gate Park

  • Fun at local amusement parks

  • Movie nights

  • Hiking in the Berkeley Hills and Marin County

  • Tours of local universities in the SF Bay Area

All-inclusive program fee includes tuition & fees, housing, meals, excursions & activities and supervision.

  • 2-weeks: $3595
  • 4-weeks: $6950
  • 6-weeks: $9950
