Education Unlimited - Tia Martineau (Instructor)

Tia Martineau — Instructor

Tia Martineau is a high school physics teacher in Chelmford, Massachusetts.  She received Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.  She is currently preparing to transition into her graduate career, where she will be pursuing her doctorate in physics at the University of Florida. Alongside her passions for both learning and teaching, Tia also spends a large portion of her career focusing on astrophysics research. While working on her Bachelor’s in physics and astrophysics, Tia worked on dark matter detection projects at Fermilab and at the University of Washington.

Tia is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and experiences with others, and she commits herself to creating a welcoming environment for young women to pursue their interests in science freely. She does this by volunteering her time to teach and mentor younger students whenever possible. In addition to teaching 12th grade physics professionally, Tia has experience promoting early involvement in STEM outside of the traditional classroom setting by means of activities, panels, competitions, and more. She has worked with students in both urban and suburban school districts, ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Outside of her professional life, Tia enjoys digital photography, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
