The in-person curriculum is divided in to three core components:

SAT Exam Preparation (Offered at UCLA and online)

At College Admission Prep Camp (CAPC), we understand the importance of achieving a high score on the SAT exam for college admissions. That's why our SAT exam preparation class offers students more than 35 hours of expert instruction, in addition to taking three full-length practice exams. With CAPC, students can concentrate intensively on SAT preparation without the distractions of school-year assignments, clubs, and activities.

Our experienced instructors employ a time-tested SAT curriculum that focuses on teaching essential skills and strategies required for success on the exam, including grammar skills, advanced math, and critical reading. Unlike other programs that rely on tricks, our instructors emphasize test-taking strategies and reasoning skills that are essential for achieving high scores.  Moreover, unlike other test prep companies that attempt to mimic SAT questions, we purchase real SAT exams released directly by the test maker, ensuring our students become familiar with the distinct style format, and nuance of real SAT questions.

Historically, our SAT students have scored average increases of nearly 200 points during the course of the program.

Personal Statement Writing - Offered at all in person sessions

At College Admission Prep Camp, the Personal Statement is not an afterthought but a significant part of the daily schedule. Our expert writing instructors provide one-on-one consulting to help students hone this critically important piece of writing. Writing a successful College Admissions essay is a very nuanced process that can often be the key to sharing less quantifiable characteristics with the admissions team that can be the key to gaining admission to a top university.  Our program teaches students how to present themselves in the most positive light during the college admission process, expressing self-awareness, imagination, and curiosity that will help them stand out in the crowded college application process. Students learn to choose a topic, develop ideas, edit for content and style, and avoid common pitfalls that weaken their chances of admission. By the end of the program, each student will have written 2-3 essay responses from frequently used Common Application and exploration of supplemental essay topics that are ready for submission with their college application.

College Counseling - Offered at all in person sessions

Even at the most prestigious private high schools, the ratio of students to counselors can exceed 100:1, offering limited opportunities for individual contact and attention.  At the College Admissions Prep Camp students benefit from small group instruction and one-on-one sessions with a talented college counselor who will be able to advise them on their important college admissions journey.  Students leave at the end of camp with a list of potential schools that have been reviewed, researched, and discussed individually with a college counselor  including some "reach" schools, some "right-fit" schools. and some "safe" schools.  Schools will be selected based on the student's interests, preferences, and admissions qualifications.  In addition, students wil develop a detailed plan that will guide them once they leave camp including when and how to obtain letters of recommendation, go on college visits, prepare for college interviews, and specific ways they can improve their chances of admission at their top choice schools.

ENVIRONMENT

Our expert Instructors and low staff-to-student ratios facilitate a close-knit, collegial community. Instructors live on campus with the students as supervisors and mentors. With the guidance of college counselors, participants tour the university, meet college students and ask admissions representatives questions about life on campus.   Students learn to prepare for an interview with admissions officers from any of their top choices

DELIVERABLES

At the conclusion of camp, students leave with a personalized college admissions timeline, practice SAT workbooks and exams (UCLA only) , 2-3 polished college essays, a researched list of target schools, and have fully explored their chances of admission to the colleges of their choice.

Upon graduation, his lifelong study of standardized tests began. He has authored more than 1,000 test questions still in use around the world today and developed test materials and curriculum for numerous agencies. In addition to his attention to intellectual learning, Robert teaches strategies to help students with test anxiety, poor organization, and ineffective time management.

In addition to being a test preparation instructor, Robert has spent time pursuing other interests as performing comedy and training as a professional sushi chef. He joined the Education Unlimited team in 2017.

Matt Westerman - SAT Instructor
