Renea L. Moss
Renea L. Moss ("Mama Moss") is a nationally recognized speech and debate coach and performance educator who has coached more than 20 National Champions and over 50 state finalists and champions across Dramatic Interpretation (DI), Program Oral Interpretation (POI), Poetry, Humorous Interpretation (HI), Duo Interpretation (DUO), and Spoken Word. She specializes in interpretive events, spoken word, and competitive storytelling.
With over a decade of experience developing national caliber performers, her work centers on the craft of performance: rigorous text analysis, character embodiment, vocal layering, emotional truth, and intentional physicality. Moss trains students not only to interpret literature, but to inhabit it. Her rehearsals emphasize precision and vulnerability, cutting scripts with purpose, shaping narrative arcs with clarity, and building performances that resonate far beyond the ballot.
A fierce advocate for authenticity in storytelling, she challenges performers to find the intersection between literature and lived experience. Her students are known for their depth, control, and commanding stage presence, skills that have carried them into collegiate forensics, conservatory programs, theater, medicine, law, and other professional fields where communication and presence matter.
Jamelle Brown
Jamelle Brown is a nationally recognized leader in competitive speech and debate, with more than 25 years of experience as both a coach and educator. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Speech and Debate Association.
Throughout her career, Jamelle has coached students to final and late elimination rounds at numerous national tournaments, including an NSDA finalist in Prose and Extemporaneous Debate, multiple NCFL finalists in Duo Interpretation, Oral Interpretation of Literature, Oratorical Declamation, and Dramatic Performance, and NIETOC finalists in Prose and Poetry. She also led the Sumner Academy of Arts & Science team in Kansas to 12 state titles.
Jamelle began her own speech and debate journey as a high school competitor. In fall 2024, she joined The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Missouri, where she teaches and coaches competitive speech and debate.
