Oishee Shemontee

Education Unlimited - Oishee Shemontee (Instructor & Counselor)

Oishee Shemontee — Instructor & Counselor

An avid fan of all things science and science fiction, Oishee Shemontee decided to pursue both her twin loves of science and literature by obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Biology, as well as a minor in English, from the University of California, Irvine. She was part of a research team at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and coauthored and published a research paper on the link between prescription drug abuse and dangerous driving habits.

Oishee is passionate about making science more relevant and easily accessible to people from a young age. In high school, she cofounded a peer tutoring program to help students struggling in biology, chemistry and physics. Since then, she has gained over six years of experience in teaching students of all ages in STEM subjects, both through private tutoring, and through school-sponsored mentorship programs. She has also worked at Princeton Review as an SAT Instructor.

On the rare occasions when she is not reading or writing, Oishee enjoys music, traveling, and working with nonprofit organizations to encourage the education of girls and women in her homeland of Bangladesh.
