Jennifer Newman, MTS — Instructor

Originally from the East Bay area in California, Jennifer Newman now resides in Boston, Massachusetts and is excited to spend her first summer teaching Public Speaking and debate with Education Unlimited!

Jennifer recently finished a Master of Theological Studies degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. While she was studying theology, she worked as a Graduate Assistant debate coach with Vanderbilt’s policy debate team. Jennifer travelled with the team to tournaments across the country as a judge and coach, and volunteered with the team as a judge for both elementary and middle school aged debate tournaments held in Nashville. She was also able to compete in the Lafayette debates, held in April 2017 and hosted by George Washington University and the French Embassy in the U.S., where she took first speaker in the tournament and was a finalist. As a result, Jennifer will be traveling to Paris, France this summer as a young ambassador to discuss the issues they debated at the tournament.

Jennifer received a dual BA degree in Politics and Philosophy from George Fox University, graduating summa cum laude in 2015. During that time, she competed in British Parliamentary debate, taking her to two national tournaments, and the World Universities Debating Championship 2013, held in Chennai, India. Before college, Jennifer competed in speech events and Mock Trial in middle and high school.

Jennifer has always valued the skills she has learned from public speaking and debate, and is excited to share her knowledge to Education Unlimited’s camp at MIT this July.
